6 “secrets” for “loving those near us”

This year, together with the whole Movement, we will continue to understand better how to live “closeness”, in “loving the person who is living right next to us”, which is, as Chiara said “our special vocation. It is the revolution that we have to bring.” ²

With the help of Margaret's theme, “Who are you for me?”, which we now have available, we can explore how Chiara's “art of loving” is the foundation of our “relationships” according to the new culture born from the Gospel.

The “art of loving” got its name from Chiara in 1997 in Taipei³ and it is divided into six points that Jesus himself revealed to Chiara in the early days of the Movement, leading her and her first companions to discover a new way of putting the Gospel into practice. It was a school, a “journey” that led them in a vital way to enter into the heart of the Good News. These are points that Chiara mentioned in many talks before and after 1997 and which she shared with a wide variety of audiences. In 1998, Chiara also explained them to children, responding to the difficult question: “Chiara, I want to become like Jesus, how can I do that?” and giving them a special “cube”, created by the intuition of the pedagogist focolarina, Roseli Weber, which shows the six points on its sides.

What we propose this year is a “course” to “learn” the art of loving, exploring its various points in depth, with three main stages (each of which, however, can/should be carried out in several sessions). If desired, the course can conclude with a final celebration (with parents, the community, friends, etc.). If it may be useful, we have also developed a small supplement that the children themselves can put together: a booklet that they will take home at the end of the course.
