Jubilee of Families, Children, Grandparents and the Elderly [30 May 2025 - 1 June 2025]

Let us walk together: let us bring joy and Hope to everyone.

We have considered a proposal for an itinerary to prepare for the Jubilee, mainly thought to enable us to engage the segment of those youngest, which is the one that is less taken in consideration when support is prepared. It may be used thinking about the Jubilee of Families, Children, Grandparents and the Elderly at the end of May but not restricted to that. As we know the Jubilee is a gift of grace offered to everyone, of any age. It is free; however, it needs to be listened to. And there are so many special aspects of each Jubilee Event, and then there are those specific of this Holy Year. Unable as we are to go deep into everything, in our proposal we have sought to select some passages that to us seemed essential and important in order to help even the youngest ones to enter the heart of the event, and that may also become prompts to help the whole family in its entirey to live more consciously the reality of the Jubilee. This has been thought mainly taking into account families with small children, but it can also be adapted for youngsters of 10 to 12 years of age.

Available Material:

- a game in stages and a video that retraces the stages propose in the journey-game.

- the video[1] can be watched all together once the journey-game is over and even the first part can be used by way of introduction and the second one by way of conclusion.

-The first part, in fact retraces or introduces the several passages that also constitute the stages in the game (helping, most of all, the youngest ones to understand what the meaning of Grace is (Plenary Indulgence) linked to the Jubilee and the way in which we may/should prepare to receive it.

-The second part gets back and underlines the different passages with some phrases extracted from the discourse of late Pope Francis on the Jubilee, which were mainly directed to adults, though we consider may be understood by everyone thanks to the visuals accompanying them.

-and at the end, an instruction for everyone, as the late Pope Frances stated in his Homily during the Holy Mass last Christmas, the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord, on December 24th 2024, that

“[…] The Jubilee has now opened so that all people may receive hope, the hope of the Gospel, the hope of love and hope of forgiveness. […]”, after having received that gift we shall have “[…] the gift and task of bringing hope wherever hope has been lost […].”

[1] The video is made if images and music. There are no dialogues recorded, only some words or phrases that accompany on the screen in Italian and English. For the other languages it becomes necessary that someone translates what is written as they appear.
